The Cultural Association “Pietro Ghizzardi” – Documentary Centre and Historical Archive was born on 16th January 2012 with the aim of promoting and stimulating the knowledge, study, conservation and diffusion of the master’s work through cultural events and displays of various sorts.
The main prerogative of the association is the promotion and diffusion of Ghizzardi’s work. Primary medium for the outcome of these intents is the House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi”, where the painter and writer spent the last years of his life and where the largest collection of his works is preserved.
The Cultural Association “Pietro Ghizzardi” mission aims to:
- define and specify the artist’s position in art history in order to still all prejudices that within the critic obstructed a wider diffusion and circulation of his work. The association’s goal is to highlight the connections that include Ghizzardi and his production into the range of contemporary art, particularly its critic relocation within international movements such as Outsider Art, through the presence of his production into relevant Italian and international exhibitions.
- make available to critics and academics the large archive collection (bibliographic, manuscript, iconographical, audiovisual) by and about Pietro Ghizzardi in order to help and encourage the possibilities of study and philological in-depth analysis and to understand more accurately his work and his pictorial and literary poetic, externalising his artistic relevance within the Italian and European scenery.
- promote and distribute Ghizzardi’s work through publishing as well as expositive activities both on national and international markets.
- motivate the local creativity, through the collaboration with the local administrations and authorities and both public and private institutions, making the House Museum spaces available to host events of various artistic nature. Cultural Association and House Museum “Pietro Ghizzardi” open up to confrontation and contamination with other art forms stepping forward to become a multi-functional and lively environment where a profitable relation among culture and territory might be achieved by becoming a cultural meeting location and a museum at the same time!
- pay attention towards the education of a conscious audience through educational projects addressed to primary and middle schools in order to get pupils acquainted with the work of Pietro Ghizzardi through a direct and practical approach to painting and writing alternated with some theoretical analysis
- create an on-field connection with the university through curricular internships aimed at the study and research on Pietro Ghizzardi’s work.
