House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi”

The House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi” has its seat in the house where the artist spent the last years of his life. The atmosphere in which the painter and writer spent his days and created – from the mid 70s until his death in 1986 – has been preserved intact in this place.

The institution was founded in Boretto (RE) in 1992 on initiative of Nives Pecchini Ghizzardi, the artist’s niece, and it is now open to the public all year round. It is completely admission free.
The institution works hard to promote, value and preserve Pietro Ghizzardi’s artistic heritage.

Moreover the House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi” presides over cataloguing and archiving of the artist’s works together with the Cultural Association “Pietro Ghizzardi” – Documentary Centre and Historical Archive. It is in fact seat of the Historical Archive “Pietro Ghizzardi”.

The House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi” hosts the world biggest collection of the artist’s works, which include pictorial and mural works, sculptures, engravings, manuscripts of published and unpublished literary works.

The House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi” cherishes also a significant corpus of testimonies concerning the artist’s public and private life, particularly regarding the materials in the video and photographic archive. These materials as well as the bio-bibliographical material, the press reviews and the complete collection of the artist’s – personal and group – catalogues are available for consultation upon prior communication.

In August 2015 House Museum “Pietro Ghizzardi” joined European Outsider Art Association – EOA.
