Eight paintings representing the Gioconda, realized by Pietro Ghizzardi during the 1960s and the 1970s, are among the displayed works as part of the exhibition «… il libro di Leonardo lo tengo appresso di me» Leonardo da Vinci in Giuseppe Diotti’s home curated by Valter Rosa, from Saturday 18th January until Saturday 13th April 2020 at the Diotti Museum in Casalmaggiore (CR).
Ghizzardi’s intense and irregular Gioconde, part of the collection of the House Museum Pietro Ghizzardi, witness the influence of the myth of Monna Lisa and Leonardo on the artist from Boretto, who, even if he was uneducated, surely wasn’t numb to the eclecticism and expressive force of the genius from Vinci.
The eight ghizzardian Gioconde find their place in the Antigone Room in the Diotti Museum and converse contrapuntally with the classicism of the great painting The court of Ludovico il Moro (1823) by Giuseppe Diotti and with the works of other artists on display (Brunivo Buttarelli, Giorgio Tentolini, Vincenzo Balena and Mario Pozzan).
This exhibition, which opens at the end of the celebrations for Leonardo’s year, is inserted into the calendar of the Rete Museale dell’800 Lombardo and is twined with the exhibition “The Academy of Brera and Leonardo da Vinci” (Accademia di Brera, Sala Napoleonica, 28th February-13th April 2020).
The inauguration is set for Saturday 18th January at 5pm at the Diotti Museum.
