House Museum Pietro Ghizzardi in Borette (Reggio Emilia) reopens its doors to guided visits: the house where the artist spent the last ten years of its life – a real domestic museum – was turned into a museum in 1992 and hosts the largest existing collection of the author’s artworks along with many of his personal objects and the Historical Archive Pietro Ghizzardi.

On Sunday 5th July House Museum will be open from 10 am to 1 pm. The entrance is free of charge. As the House Museum is a private home, the staff requires the visitors to wear masks and to comply with the social distancing measures during the visit.

The reservation is appreciated yet not but not mandatory and can be made at +39 3405072384 or at info@pietroghizzardi.com: doing so would make the visit safest and more pleasant.

At the same time the cataloguing of Pietro Ghizzardi’s art pieces – interrupted by the Covid-19 emergency – will be resumed, in sight of the future realization of Ghizzardi’s Catalogue Raisonné. The artworks cataloguing is a fundamental tool to certify the authenticity of art works and to make sure that they are traceable and documented as well as to historicise their itinerary. Cataloguing and archiving one’s own work is an essential act in order to guarantee its life and its value, to prove its story and its bibliographical and cultural relevance.

House Museum Al Belvedere “Pietro Ghizzardi” and the Cultural Association “Pietro Ghizzardi” – Documentary Centre and Historical Archive are the only institutions entitled to expertise the artworks, compile an evaluation and, in case of transfer of property, update the archive and issue the art work’s papers.
Cataloguing complies with the formation and constant updating of the Historical Archive “Pietro Ghizzardi”, founded in 1978.
